  1. These remind me of the work my granmother used to do! She found alot of satisfaction and joy in her art- and so should you!! 😀

  2. Well, I like your art very much! more art, more stories, more mazes, please! hugs, pat

  3. Hi, nice work looks very labour intensive, are the drawings part of a carved surface or do they sit on top of the finish?

    • It all pencil and marker. But I draw it using illusions. My wood pieces are even better and usually confuse people. I wish I could carve them but that would probably take years. Thanks for the feedback!

  4. love your work, very visually stimulating and inspiring!!

  5. Have you ever tried Printmaking? You could carves these images into wood, linoleum, or (may favorite) safety-cut blocks and ink and print many of these. A wood carving by itself would be great, no need to ink it. I love the lines in your drawings.

  6. you’re onto something. very interesting

  7. wow, these are great….

  8. these are fantastic…I so wish you success in all the areas that led you to mazeaday….thank you for sharing these with us.

  9. great ideas!

  10. Love the work! Great ideas!!! I am a artist who has lost her way by having to take jobs I hate, and are totally counter to my nature. My art ability is innate, and has been stifled & rolled into the back seat. I admire you and your web site. I have become paralized, and have a very low self esteem due to the fact I look at others work, and think wow I ain’t beans. Back to the crayons. I would love to find people of similar minds. Creative, sensitive, & encourageing. I can’t get this from those around me nor do they take my talent seriously. To make a pay check you must work for the great machine. I was laid off in 08, and DO NOT want to go back to what I was doing. I am 54 and it’s about time I do what is natural to me. Creativity & Art. Learn more by being exposed to those with the same thiinking. Maybe you can point me the way. Dead in Denver

  34. Love the owls. But –

Take the time to illuminate your work evenly, bounce a light source off a sheet of paper, something to give even view of the work.

Use something as elemental as iPhoto to reproduce exact contrast range, sharpness, before posting online.

The first suggestion takes a couple minutes the first time you set up. A few seconds thereafter.

The second suggestion takes less than a minute once you establish parameters.

Your work is lovely, creative. Give it the best possible chance to be appreciated and purchased.

  35. Very cool!!!! And I really love the owls. I hope you go forward with that book.

  36. Whoa. This stuff is AWESOME! I hope you finish the book soon.

  58. Hi Warren.

I love your mazes. I am African but I have not put Africa in my art in years, yet you have achieved this so gracefully in a lot of your African influenced mazes. Well done.

You sound a bit like me in regards to being afraid to work on a piece further just in case ‘I destroy it’. I think Each artist is his/her own critique. Believe in what you are doing and it will work out.

I will come back to see more of your art and I’ll check to see if I find your stories on your blog, even snippets to give me a taste.

I got so carried away about your art that I almost forgot to say thanks. Thanks for liking my blog :-))

    All the best,
    Gwyn

  59. What i do not understood is actually how you are not actually much more well-liked than you may be now. You are very intelligent. You realize thus significantly relating to this subject, made me personally consider it from so many varied angles. Its like men and women aren’t fascinated unless it’s one thing to do with Lady gaga! Your own stuffs excellent. Always maintain it up!

  60. Great stuff! And I really love mazes. I Tweeted and LinkedIn you too. Good luck and hope it all works out. Reminds me of both Nazca lines and computer generated mazes and labyrinths.

  61. I am speechless. I love your work! Absolutely amazing.

  62. You’ve got some real talent. It’s worth developing. Check out the work of John Biggers, who drew significantly on African art and legend. He did murals. One was moved from the Houston Convention Center upon demolition and is now in the Wortham Theatre, Houston’s opera house. He also did book illustrations. I grew up with his pictures via Dog Ghosts and other Texas Negro Folktales.

  107. ART MAZE A DAY I was recommended this web site by my cousin. I’m not sure whether this post is written by him as no one else know such detailed about my difficulty. You are wonderful! Thanks! your article about ART MAZE A DAYBest Regards Justin

  108. These are wonderful, I know you’ve haven’t done too many, but you should get them together when you have enough and publish a book – a picture one one page, and a description, poem, or story on the other. Either glossy and coffee table style, or workbook style for children to interact with, they’d be very theraputic! They’re really wonderful, and the energy that comes from them is fantastic, it’s easy to feel how much loving effort went into them. Keep it up!

  109. You are just AMAZING… Love it all!

  110. I’m late to the show but loving the work. I’m sharing with my friends!

  111. Simply awesome

  116. Thanks for liking the African Body Adornment Project 2012 post! Wow, your art rocks. I can not wait to see more. Sometimes we need a mentor or life coach to keep us focused, progressive and the like. Of course you know failures are simply the result of you trying and believing in yourself and your gifts. You have faith and ‘faith always moves towards it’s goal’ – Marvin L. Winans, pastor. I will stay in touch.

  117. Great work (especially the elephants and Africa the “motherland”) !
