Maze-ing Maze 201

Maze-ing 201

"Winning isn't the only thing but its the purpose of the game." Author Unknown

Maze 201: I chose the quote because I was in a parents meeting for my sons team and was surprised by some of the parents responses.  I understand that kids are supposed to have fun but the purpose is to win.  When you practice two times a week and travel to games your purpose should be to win and you should feel bad about a loss.  It just seems to me that our society is so bent on making everyone feel good that we are all losing in the end.

  1. Love the pyramids! 🙂

  2. I love the symbols you are using to tie the letters together. P is for: Perfect?

  3. Agreed. It’s a fine balance. I see a lot of parents screaming at their kids from the sidelines. It makes me feel anxious I can just image how that 9 year old feels.

Losing is great. Get used to it. It builds character, empathy and encourages you to work harder. There is ALWAYS someone better and someone worse. I compete with myself.

  4. This can often be a solution for families who want their children to feel good without accomplishing anything. I really feel strongly about self-efficacy rather than self-esteem.

  5. Your art is amazing

  6. Hi! Thanks for liking one of my posts. I like what your blog has to offer, especially this post. The first key to a successful and happy life, in my opinion, is to realize the faults of not only our lives, but the society we live in as well. From there, we can either choose to do something about it, or remain apathetic. If, as fellow human beings, we can open up people’s eyes, then they have the choice whether they want to enact change. I hope you realize that by posts like these, you are doing a great deed for the rest of us. Thank you!

  7. i’m just finding you (thanks to your ‘like’ on my post today…thank you!). your maze project is intriguing!!!

  11. I wouldn’t enjoy playing a game much if there was no goal. At a certain point, it’s good to lose and learn how to be a good sport.

  12. Winning is everything. Not for the win itself, but for the effort that the drive to win evokes.
