ABOUT

My Goals Page

The Successful Failure

A year ago I started the maze a day project because I felt like a failure.  A year later I succeeded in creating 300+ works of art in a year, worked on two book covers (for other novelists), had two art shows, sold more 15 pieces of art and met a wonderful group of people world-wide that now support my work.

More importantly I gained the confidence and skill set needed to take my art to the next level with the goal of living off my art.  So I share with you my new goals for the next year.

Project 3

WHAT: During the next 365 days (starting September 6, 2012)

  1. I will create 1 maze.
  2. I will draw and post a piece of day for the entire year.
  3. The maze will work and will be a single piece comprised of 365 smaller mazes.

PROJECT 2

WHAT: For the next 365 days (starting June 21 2012) I will

1. Create 50 new mazes.  (Easy goal compared to the last but these will be better and more artistic)

2. I will make a minimum of $2000 a month providing a living from my art, wrtiting and storytelling.

3. I will Self Publish 3 (already completed) children’s books

4. I will put on my show “Maze-ing Life” a  showcase of the Maze a Day project.

PROJECT 1

WHAT: Each day for the next 365 day/ (starting June 21 2011) I will create and publish a maze a day.  I will publish an inspirational quote with the maze that inspires me to move toward my goals.   My hope is that they inspire you as well!  Enjoy!

WHY:  I started the maze a day project for two reasons.

  1. I have failed miserably for the past several years in business,  writing and art.   I believe that not giving up is what will lead to me reaching my goals.
  2. Daily practice will not only make me better but get me in the habit of reaching a goal on a daily basis.

WHEN: Every day

WHO: Warren Stokes, author, artist, entrepreneur, and daddy.

The mazes? I started for a children’s book (still unpublished) that received positive feedback for how “artistic” they looked.   I decided to take the mazes to a new level creating  depth and illusions.  Please subscribe to recieve the daily updates.

  1. Hi- I love your work. If your interested in doing a collaborative show I’m hosting one for August (2011). Email me if your interested: pachecobrandy@yahoo.com

    • Hello, I couldn’t help reading your comment, what’s a collaborative show? how does it work? Thanks.

  2. Such a cool site! So very unique and original. I’ll definitely be back to enjoy the mazes!

  3. I think you’re right on all counts, and I think you’re going to be successful on all counts too.

When the time comes we’ll definitely help you promote – if we’re in the position to. Just send us a quick message.

  4. I love the concept for this blog. It is hard to imagine what your artwork will evolve into as you continue your practice because it is already amazing and so unique but I really look forward to witnessing it.
Also, thank you for the compliment that you left on my page.. it is truly appreciated.

    -Wendy

    • Yes i have to admit im really excited to see what maze 100 looks like much less 365. I don’t know the direction im going in yet but i’ve been working on a lot more pieces with animals so it will probably go down that road.

  5. Hi again! Was just curious… was there a particular reason for starting on June 21st? Or was it a ‘lets just start now’ sort of thing?? 🙂

    • Yea it was simply GET YOUR ASS UP AND FIGHT! I can honestly say that I feel like this project is my last opportunity to achieve my goals. Taking the time to create something new daily for a year will (I hope) give me the confidence and discipline to get up another time! Thanks for asking.

      • Just felt the need to chime in on this. There’s no such thing as “the last opportunity to achieve” one’s goals. As long as you’re alive & breathing, you have another opportunity. Keep at it and you will find success.

I also looked at your other blog, Mazing Puzzles. Have you tried submitting your book of mazes to the smaller publishing houses, like Meadowbrook Press? Or perhaps Highlights magazine would be interested in buying your children’s mazes?

Best of luck getting published. I know my son, who loves mazes, would be thrilled to see more maze books out there.

  6. LOVE IT!

  7. As an artist and author, I appreciate what you are doing. I would like to offer a little help when you decide to do a book. If you run into artists block let me know I might be able to help there also.

  8. Congratulations on your great work. It’s original, very interesting.
I used to think the same way about failure, I thought I failed in everything I tried to do, then, ONE day I found out I was trying to accomplish someone
else’s success… If you love what you do (and it shows) then you have already succeded! Please keep up the good work.

    • Thanks for the feedback. Yes after starting this project I realize that my failure i more financial than anything else. With a maze a day money has no bearing on it and by continuing to work I can reach it. Oh yea I definitely love to draw. Im also a writer and at times its work to write but as of yet its never been work to draw. A collaborative show I was told by the person who wrote the post is where more than one artist shows their work. Thanks again and I hope you subscribe to the project.

  9. Hi, I have had a passion for mandalas for years, which people sometimes confuse with mazes. I was amazed to see some of the forms I used appear in crop circles. Food for thought. Wonder if mazes have any relationship to crop circles as well. Your mazes are beautiful although they do not tempt me to try them. Somehow they never held my interest in doing them. I do admire yours as an art form and project. Thanks for visiting me, too. I iwll be back! Hugs, pat

    • Pat wow I had never heard of a mandalas and actually was working on a circle maze this morning. Tune in tomorrow to see what I came up with. And thanks for introducing me to the mandalas I did a google search for images and found some very cool work.

  10. Your mazes are amazing and inspiring. Great choice of quotes and the tie-n. I think it’s awesome you’ve made a commitment to produuce a maze a day. Way to go!

  11. wow! You’re mazes are insane!! I’ll definitely have to attempt one of them – not sure how I’ll go though! :-\

    • Thanks for the visit and feedback. Most of the mazes have two blank circles that’s where you start and end. However I’ve started to add an S and E so people can tell. If you hit a dead end you have to start over.

  12. This site rocks! Who’da thunk?? I’m definitely coming back! And thanks for coming to visit skydiaries! xo Lynn

  13. These are great and you’re very talented. Keep going!

  14. Clicked on your site and got a wonderful surprise. The mazes are great! Wonderful idea. I’m been writing for years without getting published, so can relate. Yet we keep trying. Hang in there.

  15. Maze, I enjoyed your portfolio of drawings and their caption. Very striking, keep it up!
    Thanks for your visit,
    benny

  16. Your mazes are really creative – well done! Wishing you all the best for achieving your goals.

  17. Terribly interesting site, and clever. You definitely have talent. Thank you for your positive comments on my Paris painting. I am happy for criticism as well, as i am learning.
Bye the way did you know the date on your about page should be 2011. I think.

  18. You have a great talent and thanks for sharing it!
Also thanks for the nice comment you left me. Here’s a quote that you might find useful.
“Hold fast to your dreams, for without them life is a broken winged bird that cannot fly.” –Langston Hughes

  19. Hi there, thanks for stopping by my blog and taking the time to leave a comment. And I love what you’re doing here !

  20. What a talent!

  21. I LOVE your mazes, and the idea behind them and your year-long project. I have no doubt at the end of the year you’ll know what’s most important to you in your life and artistic expression. I have a friend who has done ‘doodles’ for years, as an artistic release. She turns them into card sets as presents; don’t know if she’s ever sold them. Another few quotes you might be able to work with (I collect them for my work):

    When you change the way you look at things, the things you look at change.” –Max Planc, Nobel physicist;

“The community stagnates without the impulse of the individual.
The impulse dies away without the sympathy of the community.”
    –William James;

    “Let the beauty you love, be what you do. There are a thousand ways to kneel and touch the ground.” –Rumi;

“Let yourself be silently drawn by the stronger pull of what you truly love.” — Rumi

Hope you enjoy these; keep up the amazing mazes! and thanks for sharing them.

    JT

  22. You are a true artist. Love your works!

  23. Thank you for liking my blog. I have read about your project; I know what it takes to build a business and I can see that you are on the right path towards your goal. A business takes 3-5 years to build, but the first year is the most important. Drawing a maze every day is a very good idea and if you keep doing it you will succeed! – eb

  24. Just found your blog now through http://michaeldthomasphotography.wordpress.com/
I will follow and wish you all the best
by the way the reasons you mentioned as to why you started this is very good and very inspiring

  25. Cool! Wish you best luck achieving your goal! 🙂

  26. Wow, you work is truly amazing. I feel honored that you commented on my cat. I am truly amazed at how much joy I get from doing a drawing daily. Of all the things I have to do, it is the one that I love to do.

  27. Your mazes are beautiful! Thanks for the visit!

  28. This is amazing! I can’t believe you’ve been so diligent with this!!! Props!

  29. This is a wonderful idea. I write a blog on motivation and empowerment. I signed up to follow your progress. I might share you blog on my blog, as I like to share great blogs with my readers. 🙂

  30. Hello! I simply wish to give an enormous thumbs up for the great info you could have right here on this post. I will probably be coming back to your weblog for more soon.

  31. You need to participate in a contest for one of the best blogs on the web. I will suggest this site!

  32. great idea! keep it up!

  33. Wow, this is such an amazing project you’ve got going. I will definitely be stopping by again!

  34. Very beneficial & absorbing.

  35. Saw your post on Linkedin re designing a logo for free. We are developing a fan village / golf demo exposition event in Augusta, GA during the week of the Masters golf tournament. It’s called “Augusta Golf Expo” – we need a cool logo if you want to give it a shot. Let me know if you’d like to give it a shot. THanks in advance.

  36. Thanks for stopping by my blog…looks like you are well on your way to your goal. Carry on!

  37. Love your proposed project and really love the self-challenging commitment.

  38. Warren, thanks for reading my blog on New Years Resolutions. Your artwork is incredible, and the patience to draw such intricate detailed mazes is a skill. I like you have failed in business (on a number of occasions), but kept at it and have now achieved a nominal amount of success after numerous attempts.

Keep at it, the prize comes not necessarily to the swiftest, smartest, or most skilled but… to those who refuse to quit, refuse to give up on themselves and their dreams.

Hope 2012 is a great year for you in every way.

    Dave

  39. Good on you! I stopped writing goals down back in 1993. Why? Because I made most of them – over 97% of what I wrote down (with a time limit) I reached. It scared me. So, Jan 1st , 2012 – is my first time in almost two decades to write goals. You go Guy! By the way, you didn’t fail at business; you learned! Some folks go to Harvard for a 100 grand business degree. Some folks, like you and I, learn in real life. Same lessons, and about the same price!

  40. So glad to have been led to your blog! I love the 365 project and your work is very cool and unique. Best of luck with your children’s books. Go for it!

  41. Don’t give up because if you do you will never succeed. Your mazes are amazing, and you can always self publish through Smashwords or some other self publisher. Kindle and other E-readers have opened more oportunities than ever before and your mazes would be perfect. Thanks for the like on my blog. I look forward to seeing more mazes.
    Regards.

  42. I REALLY like what you’ve written about why you are doing this! I truly believe in letting your burning desire to succeed drive you to your goals.

  43. Keep on doing what you do 🙂 Great work ~ Cath

  44. Wow. Really cool stuff. Keep it up.

  45. Great work, great idea, great challenge. May you succeed! I have started a new blog just for the 365 project at OneFrenchWord.wordpress.com
I shall, one word at a time, one day at a time, explain a French word – pronunciation, meaning, with a phrase, a quote, a context… I’m notably bad at keep a regular blog. Maybe this time I’ll make it! Do follow me and give me support!

  46. Hey Warren,

Thanks for the “like” on my blog. I hear your pain dude. I have just started on this long journey. Writing is a passion of mine and while i write tons of technical responses during the day and I play a management role in my current job my dream is to produce interesting and thought provoking prose with the purpose to help people discover the tools they need to thrive.

I think you have a unique idea here. Very, very interesting. Hey, check out the Domino Project. Seth Godin is a cool guy and he’s always looking for interesting approaches to publishing.

Good luck and feel free to drop me a line anytime. You can find my email contact on my blog.

    Ralph

  47. These mazes are amazing! They remind me of my favorite maze book when I was a child, by David Phillips. Yours look even more complicated and artistic. I’d buy your book.

  48. thanks for your like on my post 🙂 much appreciated! excellent work here

  49. Interesting concept. Good luck with it. And don’t give up the writing. What I’ve read here is good!. All the best to you.

  50. Maze,

Not giving up is the key to success ! I once looked up to the guys of my time, jealous, envious and frustrated. They all told me the same, it takes time…
This is more true then ever for my own life.

Not giving up also means, not to get lost on the way.

    Sarah

  51. Cool work 🙂 Keep it up!

  52. I came to your site to thank you for liking my post, but got caught up in your AWESOME work!

Thanks for visiting my Time to Pause Blog and liking my post.
Each step counts and leads you to finding your way! I like it!

  58. No one who has tried has failed miserably.

    Perhaps one venture didn’t work.

THIS will! I’m so confident of that, I’m signing up. Please share a maze a day with me, and I’ll share with others.

Here’s an idea: You’re an art-preneur who is going to write a children’s book or illustrate a children’s book THIS YEAR. (Repeat over and over, while creating, and it will happen.)

    Bonne chance!

  59. Thanks for liking my first post : )
ps. as a fellow “problem finisher” I’ve always found this advice helpful (and it’s spurred me on to make sure I keep my newest idea up!) “Between peaks there are always valleys. How you manage your valley determines how soon you reach your next peak”

Your work is really cool and you’ve inspired me to add a “buy prints” page to my own blog to sell some of my photography in an etsy shop. I’ve been wanting to do that for a while… now it is a new year. Thanks for finding my blog and inspiring me. 🙂

  129. Hi, thanks for visiting my new Wicked Karma blog. Congratulations on your site! I admire your work. It’s truly a-mazing. I am certain there must be a huge market for your work and I would strongly encourage you to look for a publisher. All the best for the New Year!

  130. Thank you so much for stopping by my site.

Can’t wait to get started on yours. What a great idea!

  131. Hey! How do you know you’ve failed? I’m thinking you’ve never failed. You are still in the process and continuing the learning. To me you are already a success. Your ideas about the mazes is great. When my son was young he loved mazes and we could never find enough of them in the stores. I am very excited about what you are doing.

  132. Thank you for stopping by and liking my post. Because it gave me the opportunity of discovering you.

I look forward to your writings! You have a new follower, to your already long list.

  133. Cool Blog!

  134. Nice blog – quite interesting!!!

  135. Very cool. Can’t wait to see them.

  136. The commitment is big, but the reward will blow your mind.

    Keep on our friend.

    Have a Blessed Day,

    Danny & Laura

  137. Thank you for liking a couple of my posts. I won’t say your site is amazing because I’m sure you’ve heard that pun too many times! But it’s certainly an achievement you deserve to be proud of. I have to say, though, that the honesty that shines through as you tell us about your journey is even more of an achievement – in courage and personal responsibility. Do you deserve all the success I’m sure you’re destined to have.

  138. Just one more thing: you’ve written as your starting date June 2012 – don’t you mean 2011 or am I missing something?!

  139. OMG, I can’t believe I wrote that comment wrong! This is why my son tells me I’m not allowed to email after midnight! lol I meant to write “You DO deserve all the success I’m sure you’re destined to have,” not phrase it as a question! Best wishes, Mirren

  140. Thanks for following my blog, i really like your stuff, there’s nothing more engaging than an artistic maze.

  141. What a great idea! And beautiful mazes! It can get discouraging, especially when I see other people getting published. All we can do is forge on ahead. Best of luck to you!

  142. Really like how you mention not giving up here in no. 1. So many people forget that when setting goals.

  143. A maza a day. What a great concept!

  144. Thank you for visiting my blog and liking my post on “Yes, this is an apology.” Nice blog here. 🙂

  145. wow.. great concept and great blog. thanks for dropping by at thoughtful thoughts. 🙂

  146. Exciting work.
    Publish your book!

  147. Thank you for liking my film “Footsteps in Zuvuyaland” 🙂

I think a maze a day sounds great so keep up the good work!

I will put up another short film soon, which relates exactly to your post “Maze a day – About” I think you will like.

Keep in touch, and I have added you to my blogroll 🙂

    Love & Light,

    Ingrid

  148. I love the concept for your blog. Your determination to not give up on your goals is inspiring.

  149. Thanks for liking my post. Lovely work! And I love your determination!

  150. Thanks for dropping by………

    tom

  151. Perhaps it was not you who “failed miserably” but they who “failed miserably” to see and reward your talent.

  152. Is this elephant a single maze or several mazes? Great idea. Are the mazes digitally generated with slight modifications, or of your own conception? “Negotiation skills” of institutions, systems, and authority figures are acquired “intelligence” since childhood…Time to do your best navigating your desires and wishes around the available facilities…

  153. I feel yourfrustration art/writing etc. I am right there with you!!! Luck!

  154. Thanks for checking out my site CROWNOFGRACE.WORDPRESS.COM I like yours also. I’ll be watching for more puzzles. Cool idea and very challenging. Look forward to more ! Good luck !

  155. very happy to have come across your art. i will dig more into your maze universe. thank you.

  156. Warren

Thanks for dropping into my 365 Short Memories blog and liking one of the posts. Interesting that the motivators for me to do a post a day are very similar to yours. I must admit, you have come up with something I think is quite unique and entertaining.

I’ll keep an eye on your mazes.

    Good luck.

  157. What a beautiful and unique blog! Love it!!!! Subscribing right now. and thanks for the Like…

  158. I love mazes! And yours are awesome! Very creative! 🙂 You are really good at your craft 🙂

  159. Hey there, Maze a Day! Thank you for the “like” and yes, if you deem what I can offer good enough, I’d be happy to go with the flow. Failure is the challenge to do it again but better. I speak as one who knows. Not giving up: stubborn endurance is the engine that should drive self-belief. I’d love to get into children’s (media) educational work. I was reading about someone who invented a pad for kids with which they can interact as listeners, using imagination instead of watching TV all day. I was a broadcaster and want to do audios as well as writing.
I have poems for kids. I worked at nursery level at one stage and loved it. So, yes, I’m in if you’ll have me. At present I’m having a faster boost installed on my computer and when that is in place, I’ll get back to you.
    Best,
    Colette

  160. Great website and cool mazes. I look forward to learning more about your art. Good luck and keep up the good fight.
    Prepare to Crossover

  161. Hi Warren, thanks for liking my post, ‘Smooth Operator.’ Since I’m starting out I really appreciate having people from successful blogs looking at my work. If you want to chat you can reach me on my blog. Speaking of blogs, yours is fantastic. Keep up the great work.
    Cheers,
    Alex

  162. I have added you to my list of inspirational persons.. 🙂

  163. What a lovely idea! And yes true perseverence is an art worth learning.

  164. Hello:

I am fascinated by your art and writings. Would like to connect with you. My name is Camille Mitchell. Please send me your contact info to: ncm22portal@gmail.com or 313-452-1339.

    Thank you!

    Camille

  165. Thanks for liking my post as I got a chance to cruise through your blog and art. Wow! I’ll be back!

  166. You have not failed; you are still positive and determined. I really like your work and your site and have nominated you for the Versatile Blogger Award which you can see at: http://thomag2.wordpress.com thanks and congratulations.

    tom

  167. Congrats on both your art and your goal. I’m attempting to write a short story/poem/fragment on my blog a day as well. (thanks for your ‘like’ btw). I know it’s hard to create on the spot, but it’s quit a rush and you feel your mind’s creative muscle really flexing. Keep it up. I have a children’s book about ducks that I need illustrated, if you’re interested or know of anyone.

    Cheers!

    Larry.

  168. A maze causes us to look more closely, searching, identifying. Good practice for our life. Really seeing!

  169. Thanks for visiting and liking my post. I’m still rather new at blogging, so I really appreciate having people from successful blogs looking at my work. Love your work, very creativ. All the best.

  170. This is awesome. Sticking to goals is a difficult “maze” that we as humans tend to give up on daily, so this is just great. Continue to persevere fellow blogger, persevere & inspire! -Blessings to you

  171. Hi , First thanks so much for liking my blog ! I have now been wowed by yours ! i love the idea, you should get a book published ! you could do this independently ! I would then send a copy to all the art gallery shops ( i.e. The Tate Galleries in the UK ) as they are always needing new and exciting items with a great artistic content, that you can’t buy in the main high street shops. I have a couple of friends that are illustrators so I know how hard it is to get work out there, but my brother who is a photographer has published 2 books off his own back . So keep going I will check into your blog soon.

    izzy

  172. Thanks for liking my post. What amazing works of art you create! Thanks for the inspiration!

  173. thanks for liking my post! your blog is probably the most creative idea i’ve seen!

  174. Glad you liked my post. I like your idea as well. The picture of the bull maze reminded me of my Dad whose used to doodle figures in a similar fashion, but not with the idea of making a maze. Perhaps you will get a movie deal- Did Julia Child draw mazes?

  175. Thanks for liking my post! (:

  176. Thanks for liking my post. I have really enjoyed looking through your artwork and seeing the quotes/words that have inspired you. It’s lovely.

  177. This is awesome. I’m totally interested. I’ll have to search around and find out more.

  178. Wow. Thanks for liking my blog post! You had no idea that I used to absolutely love mazes! So glad you found me. Looking forward to your posts.

  179. thanks for liking my post. you have a great blog. 🙂

  180. Wonderful and marvelous work 🙂

  181. Fabulous new initiative…”keep swimming! You are almost there….”

  182. Here’s my humble advice: Draw it. Organize it. Publish it.
Don’t hesitate or think for a minute about what “we” might think.
The fact that you’ve been posting everyday now for more than 7 months is in itself an achievement.

  183. Thanx for the heads up – just been swirling round your art & concepts, v inspirational, out the box … love your reasons & motivations for a maze a day … you are keeping it real 🙂

  184. First, thank you for stopping by and liking my blog post. It’s really good to see that someone’s actually reading what I write! Secondly, I have to say that your mazes are astounding! Very cool!

  185. First, thanks for stopping by and liking my blog post. I don’t immediately see the connection between your blog and mine, but there doesn’t have to be one, right?
Second, don’t worry about the heights thing. I’m not keen on heights either, but it’s not the height that’s the problem, it’s the falling off that bothers me. If what is under your feet is solid, and you have something to stop you falling off, no problem. After all, being high up doesn’t hurt, it’s only hitting the ground that might damage you!

  186. Woo, let’s see some mazes! This is very very cool 🙂 Happy to have met you 😀

  187. I admire your motivations, fantastic.

  188. Beautiful idea! Very inspiring

  189. I love your ambition. This is definitely the right way to go to succeed! I wish you good luck! Big hug, Tia, thefuturecoaches.wordpress.com

  190. wow, this is the most creative blog i have seen! and we have the same theme 🙂 keep up the great work!

  191. Thanks for the like. Love your blog and your art. Will definitely be back!

  192. What an excellent form of expression the quotes just add to it…. nice1…!

  193. Hi, thanks for the like of my post. Your blog looks interesting. I’ll definitely be back for another look.

  194. Great work 🙂

  195. Great stuff. Definitely worth exploring in a book format. Thanks for the like on the icky yucky mucky blog!

  196. Very Unique! Thank you for following…such an encouragement. You have amazing work btw and Ive shared on my facebbbok page…keep up the good work 🙂

  197. what a challenge!! thank you for “liking” my poem. I will enjoy discovering your site!

  198. Thanks for the like on my site. This is a cool site. 🙂

  199. What a cool idea! Eager to check out some of your posts.

  200. I just want to tell you that I am just all new to blogging and site-building and really loved you’re blog. Very likely I’m likely to bookmark your blog post . You certainly have terrific posts. Bless you for sharing your web-site.

  201. Sounds good, Warren. Go for it. You can do it! Gregswimelar.com

  202. Hi Warren,

This is interesting. it might make a good book too; not an eBook though. The point of a maze is to see if you can find your way through it. I’ve always wanted to go through a maze that has been made from hedging; although some of the woodland I explore is similar!

You are more than half way through your quest.

    Thanks for visiting my blog.

  203. Hey, this is an exciting site, never knew puzzles could be on a blog:) Keep it up.

  204. Very cool project!

  205. thanks for the like on my blog – your blog is amazing. I love art and always admire talent – I will be checking back to read your future posts.

  206. Very creative, artistic and interesting work. I really like it. =) Keep up the good work!

  207. I was happy to find your wonderful work! I wish you the best of luck in all of your endeavors. Your determination and drive are very inspiring.

  208. i love your maze art, it is so beautiful.

  209. Interesting, very interesting…Go make it happen you have what it takes and thanks for visting me on Image Breakers

  210. Thanks for “liking” my post!

Your blog has such a unique concept. Good luck with your goals!

  211. Good Morning:

Thank you for the kind compliment. I will be in contact with you shortly.

    Have a great day!

    Camille

  212. WOW! Thank you! You are AMAZZZING… (SMILE)

    Have an Amazing Day!

    Camille

  213. What a wonderfully great idea you have going here! And thanks for stopping by to leave a like on my Desktop at CorneaCopia.

  214. Thnx for your likes on my pages. Your mazes are amazing. I’m sure you hear that a lot. I also like your quotes. I’ll be checking out your page. As a little kid I loved the mazes in the puzzle books & as a big kid I’ll give yours a shot.

  215. HI,
Thanks for visiting my blog and liking it. Your blog is an amazing undertaking. I’m hopeless at doing these mazes.

  216. This 365 day a thing seems to be taking off everywhere at the moment especially in Australia.

This is a great way to express & share!

    Nice to meet you.

Good luck with it all : )

  217. This is inspiring! Especially since I also have trouble keeping up with daily goals… I look forward to your 365th maze 🙂 What will you do afterwards?

    • Another one! Thanks for the feedback I can honestly say I can’t wait to see 365 either. I could use a day off or two and then I can start applying some of the many new things I’m learning and take my time to develop. The only drawback which in some ways is a blessing is that creating a maze a day doesn’t give me much time to try different things with in the maze. Thanks again!

  218. hi! thanks for visiting my blog and liking my post. i am amazed by your work – it’s stunning and original! i wish you all the best with your maze-365 project. 🙂

  219. Keep on going! that is the key. As Napoleon Hill wrote, “Persistence is to man, what carbon is to steel.” Never ever give up, every failure only leads you closer to your inevitable success. Thomas Edison took over 2000 attempts and failures before perfecting the light bulb!

  220. Great idea and perseverance. Best of luck to you.

  221. Thanks for liking my post! Your mazes are awesome and totally surprised me, I have never seen any so intricate or artistic. They look like secret symbols from a graphic novel, keep up the very cool work!

  222. Thanks for liking my recent post and for directing me to your blog in the process. I look forward to investigating further!

  223. Your work is so interesting!
Wishing you all the best with your project.

  224. Like you I’ve been having a difficult time in getting my business off the ground. But you’re doing great work and you’ve got the right attitude. Stick with it, success will come your way

  225. Thanks for the like on my post! Wish there was a love button on your site 🙂 Your work is awesome, and your concept inspiring. Look forward to coming back & seeing more!!

  226. Thank you for reading my blog and Liking it… I am very inspired by your dedication and am happy to what you move closer to your dreams – one maze at a time.

  227. oh wow love love your work…great creativity..will definitely follow your blog…thanks for liking my post about Mon amie la rose and Rock the Casbar

  228. Great idea for a book – I love it. Good luck with getting it published. I’m going to self publish my own book ‘How To Change Your Life One Day At A Time’ which has 365 Guides in it – so, a bit like yours. Stay tuned to find out how it goes and if I succeed I might be able to let you know how I did it. Stu

  229. What a wonderful idea. I wish you the best of luck in your endeavors. It’s true, practice makes perfect. That’s why I started the blog about my Dad’s sinking into (and succumbing to) Alzheimer’s. My writing improved significantly by the end and now I’m finishing edits on it as a manuscript.
Your artwork is absolutely beautiful–Thank you for liking my post and making me aware of your site. I used to make mazes for my little sister when she was sick. . . these are 50 billion times more beautiful 🙂

  230. Hello, and thanks for the like! Your project is admirable & reminds me of my own one-a-day projects I need to work up the motivation to start. I hope you can get the word out and make that children’s book. Or any other book! It looks like you’re making stuff that deserved to have physical copies. 🙂

  231. Love this idea! Thanks for the reminder to stay motivated – always a struggle to keep your eye on the prize, but a noble goal indeed.

  232. Inspiring! For almost the same reasons you have I’m now writing about fashion, style and other stuff.

Do you have a fashionable maze?

  233. Thanks for visiting my blog. I love what you are doing and you should look into publishing I am on you follow list now so keep up the great work.

  234. When I was a young girl, I spent hours sitting in my room making mazes and listening to Neil Young. I had completely forgotten that until I visited your site. So very cool what you are doing. Good luck with your project.
And thanks for reading my blog.

  235. A belated message to say many thanks for visiting my Mouse & Microlight blog. I also got fed up with the depressing struggle to get published. Last year I published my children’s novel on Kindle. At least it’s out there and I’m no longer dependent on an agent or a publisher.

Don’t give up. Self-belief is everything – even if a little hard to keep hold of some days! Love your mazes!

  236. Dear maze a day, you recently liked some of our posts!
Thank you very much for that – may we ask you how exactly we caught your attention and what message you liked most?
Do you have any ideas to share on the topics we have brought forward on human nature, love, faithfulness and promiscuity?
Since we are just starting this blog, it would be an honor to have a comment/review on what we have written.
We would be very grateful to start some idea exchange and discussion, and we would be delighted to help you in any way!

  237. What a wonderful, symbolic, artistic way to reach your goals. A lesson for many of us. This book will be awesome!

  238. Great idea and very inspiring 🙂 Keep up the good work 🙂

  239. Hi Warren

Awesome work – great imagination, talent and energy. And a sense of fun – very important!

When you mention failure maybe you are being overly critical.
We all fail – and artists, having such high standards, are seldom satisfied.
The guy who has the guts to get up on the “high wire” risks falling the furthest. . .

Last night on way to practice, read this sign:

“A Winner is a Loser Who Just Kept Going.”

So – just remember there are stacks of people who love your work.
For their sakes, and your own, keep going.
    With best regards,
    Frank

  242. Great idea. I love your site and you are doing fabulous stuff – never, never give up I say. Thankyou for stopping by my post. Much appreciated.

  243. These are all incredibly intricate. I don’t think I’ve ever seen anything quite like this. Keep at it, I say. Thanks for liking my stuff, incidentally.

  244. Thank you!!!

  245. Very creative! 🙂 Been here and have enjoyed your posts. And have subscribed to keep in touch. Keep it up!

  258. Being in the writer biz, I keep thoughts branching out, looking for new things.

I wonder if you’ve ever considered going over to Spigot Magazine (an online mag for science articles geared to elementary students and used by teachers)

I was looking at your mazes and thinking about the science of visual perception and how it relates to what you’re doing. Do you know how complex the thought process is for what you do to make one of these mazes? If not, you could look into it, write an article about it to their guidelines, and submit it with an activity piece that can be used in the classroom, in conjunction with the article.

If you didn’t want to do something so small as one of their articles, you could go over to Sylvan Dell Press, read their guidelines, and put together a fictional story account–for children–of choosing to make mazes and the science behind them.

It’s a thought. BTW, I love this whole concept. Good luck and keep plugging along. There are ways of succeeding and then there are WAYS of succeeding.

    • Thanks for the ideas and feedback. I think I will give the magazine a shot.

      • Good for you. You can’t drive until you start the car. Now that you turned the key, all you have to do is put the thing in gear.

Happy to help. Enjoy the journey. It may get bumpy at times, but it’s worth it.

  269. In a world where we have seen and done it all, it is refreshing to come across something that is remarkable (read: interesting enough to remark about).

Thank you for takling the time to read and like my blog http://www.liferevelation.com. I deeply appreciate it.

    Be encouraged!

  270. Warren,

I visited your site after WP told me you liked my post about my flagship game which is a puzzle/maze! This artwork is great and it’s good to hear that you’ve pulled through a difficult time.

I read somewhere on your site another comment about how many people are also feeling this overwhelming press recently and I would have to agree.

Your goal of “A Maze A Day” is impressive and very demanding and I wish you the best on this. I’m trying to work a little each day on developing my first game in over a decade. I am unsure if I could produce enough content for daily posts, but you’ve definitely inspired me to attempt to keep up with my weekly posts promise.

Best wishes to you and I hope you follow my flagship project and play it upon the release.

I’ve been writing for a long time to little success and I gave it up over the past year to focus on my “career” when I found out my wife was pregnant. The day Griffin was born, just one month ago, I got this itch to try to write again, created beingdady101 because I wanted to share my experiences and get back into a practice of writing daily again. New stories and concepts are flowing again and now I have some momentum to continue doing what I love to do; be creative, write, and develop new ideas. What kind of writing did you do? Keep up the awesome work!
